CrossFit Kids

CrossFit Kids is a method for teaching Greg Glassman’s CrossFit to children ages 3-18. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.

CrossFit Kids is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. Further, the needs of second graders and high-school varsity wrestlers differ by degree and not kind; the program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids. CrossFit Kids is designed to be minimalist; it is inexpensive and often requires little or no equipment, allowing a wide array of socioeconomic groups an opportunity to be physically fit and physically active throughout their lives.

CrossFit Portishead is more than just “another gym”, it’s a community, one that encourages and supports you in achieving your fitness goals.

At CrossFit Portishead we want to prepare you for the challenges that you may face day to day. With this in mind, CrossFit is based on functional movements and the ability to perform and adapt. We offer you a varied training program that is fully scalable to help everyone, regardless of previous experience, increase their fitness and mobility. You will never be left alone to just “crack on” with your training, we’ll teach you all of the movements from Olympic lifting, kettle bell training to gymnastics and rowing/running and structure all your workouts.

We are a results based gym so you will be part of a structured programme that is measurable and accountable, including strength and energy system training, a system that fits in with your fitness, ability and lifestyle. Our small classes, intimate sessions and one on one time maximises potential for improvement whatever your ability and the best part about it is that you don’t have to think about it, it’s all done for you!

The studio is free to use by members outside class times.

We also offer the studio as an area for private training and events.

A great range of resistance equipment to perfect muscle tone and develop strength. The area can also be effective for rehabilitation following injury and developing co-ordination before moving onto the use of free weights. We have a diverse range to help target every muscle group.

A deck of free weights and benches guaranteed to excite any type of lifter. You will find both steel and rubber and won’t be short of poundage. We love chalk and if you’re not making noise you’re not lifting hard enough! You must wear shoes and don’t lift weights you can’t put back on the racks.

An independent area for ladies to work out alongside other ladies. This well equipped room is a strictly a no men zone and features everything you need to cover a full body workout. The design pulls on an inspirational colour scheme and is located on the second floor with a layout that allows privacy but doesn’t lose the light and airy benefits of our overall gym design.

Our spin studio has been designed to ensure you get the best out of your workout.  An atmospheric environment based on the best of nightclubs so you can stay in your zone and push yourself to the limit. An intimate environment with a wide variety of  Instruction to meet all your needs from Beginner to Spin Demon.

Our tanning suite can be used by both members and non members.
